A full-time IT director is a considerable cost for a firm of twenty people, and a single in-house engineer is a single point of failure. Fractional support sits between the two: senior judgement when a decision needs it, an experienced pair of hands when the in-house team is stretched, and continuity when someone is away.
It also suits organisations that are not yet ready to hand everything over. Many of our fractional arrangements begin as a second opinion on strategy or security, and some later grow into a full managed service. There is no obligation for them to.
